BPC-157

A synthetic pentadecapeptide (15 amino acids) whose sequence comes from a protein in gastric juice. In rodents it speeds the healing of tendon, muscle, gut and other tissue with striking consistency — but there are no controlled human efficacy trials, and no published human pharmacokinetics. The animal case is genuinely interesting; the human case is simply not yet made.

TB-500

A synthetic 7-amino-acid fragment (Ac-LKKTETQ) of thymosin  β-4, a natural protein involved in cell migration and repair. The important catch: most of the research people cite for TB-500 is on the full thymosin β-4 protein, not the short fragment that is actually sold — so even the animal evidence is partly borrowed.

Used together: the “Wolverine” blend

The two are commonly stacked and sold pre-mixed as the “Wolverine” blend, on the theory that a gut-derived healing peptide and a cytoskeleton-linked one complement each other. That is a community convention, not a tested regimen: no clinical study has looked at the combination for either safety or benefit. Both are also banned in sport at all times — see doping status.

What is the difference between BPC-157 and TB-500?
BPC-157 is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide based on a protein found in gastric juice; TB-500 is a synthetic 7-amino-acid fragment of the natural protein thymosin β-4. Both are promoted for tissue and tendon repair, but they are unrelated molecules acting by different proposed routes.
Is BPC-157 or TB-500 better for healing?
There is no good human evidence for either, and no head-to-head study, so a “better” cannot honestly be named. The case for both rests on animal experiments; human efficacy is unproven. TB-500’s clinical data, such as it is, concerns the full thymosin β-4 protein, not the fragment that is actually sold.
Can you take BPC-157 and TB-500 together?
They are often stacked and sold pre-mixed as the “Wolverine” blend. That combination is a grey-market convention, not something tested for safety or benefit — there is no clinical evidence that the pair works better than either alone, or that combining them is safe.
Are BPC-157 and TB-500 banned in sport?
Yes. Both are on the WADA Prohibited List — BPC-157 under S0 (non-approved substances) and TB-500 under S2.3, where thymosin β-4 and its derivatives are named. They are banned at all times. See Doping status.
